Please read all of the below to understand our Quality Standards regarding the site, stories/gaming creepypastas, etc.

Note: These ARE lower standards than the Creepypasta Wiki, so you have not much to worry about.

Minimum Standards

  1. Before you post your article to this site, you should proofread and spell-check the document. This includes, but is not limited to, the proper use of capitalization, spelling, punctuation, spacing, and paragraphs. If you don't do this, read rule 2.
  2. If you post your article to this site without following rule 1, your story is susceptible to grammar and formatting edits from other users, or small edits to the story from the administrators. This is to make sure your story looks good on the site and is no way harmful. See Story Editing Guidelines for help on what would most likely be edited and what would most likely be deleted.

Page Titles

You must properly capitalize your page titles.

The long and the short of it is that titles must adhere to the following standards:

  1. Properly capitalized.
  2. Contain no periods. A title is not a sentence. A decorator question mark or bang is fine in many cases, but periods are not. Sometimes ellipses are acceptable in a title too depending on what you are trying to convey.

General Requirements

  • Your story should have a consistent plot. It also should have a decent plot line that is somewhat realistic depending on the events. Cliches are allowed. Don't overuse them but you may use them at a higher-than-intermediate level.
  • CAPS can be used, but it is highly advised you use italic text and a fair usage of exclamation marks. If you use a lot of caps lock in your story, it doesn't mean you're going to be punished, or that your pasta is going to be deleted, it just means you need to make sure your caps lock level is somewhat in check so that effort from others may be minimal.
  • The story should be containing good phrasing and have good word choice. If words are plastered all over the place, and the story overall makes no sense as a result to the point it may be irrecoverable; it will be deleted. However these are usually rare circumstances.
  • There should be some kind of hook; something to grab the reader's attention and entrench them in the story. One way is to start the story out in a unique setting, instantly making the reader want to read more about whatever bizarre scenery you are painting for them in their mind. Other ways are usually drawn out as the story is being told, or will hit the reader in the face like a bag of bowling balls at the end of the story. Whichever approach you use, keep the reader interested, or it obviously makes for a boring read.
  • Trollpastas are not allowed, and will be deleted no matter what with a notification on the talk page and 1 day ban included. Nope. Exit. Go. This place is for legitimately written Gaming Creepypastas, not intentionally cliched ones to the point it's supposed to be funny.
  • (Journals/Diaries) It should read like a journal. This shouldn't be a case of updating such blog/write in "your" diary when there's a murderous beast/evil plushie/someone "you" owe money to outside "your" window trying to kill "you".
  • (Journal/Diaries) People have this odd habit of acting like a journal is going to get read by someone else. Please don't. A journal is the opposite: Personal. On the other hand, a blog post would be a more public thing read by an audience.
  • (Journal/Diaries) People aren't going to explain to themselves who people are. Dropping hints can be fine, such as events where a person is engaged with something they like, but full on saying it is unrealistic.

Questions to Ask Yourself

  • Is this progressing the story?
  • Is this interesting, engaging or making the story better in any way?
  • Is this necessary to understand the story and/or will it come back later?

FAQ

Why so little of standards?

The Creepypasta Wiki doesn't allow for the classic 2012 action we had earlier on. We're way more accepting of amateurs than they ask for. If you feel like you're professional enough to write a Creepypasta on that site, just know they don't take gaming ones (or at least, not ones like these). Gaming Creepypastas are a lot more welcome here.

Why don't you lower the standards a bit more?

These are about as low as we can go. We still have standards, even if they're way much lower than the Creepypasta Wiki. This is for amateur writers, not for 5 year old writers.

Is there a place I can ask for help, like the Creepypasta Wiki?

You can go on the discussions, or ask an administrator for help. Both work.

Why did my pasta get edited in terms of grammar/story?

An user probably did it so it'd look nicer. Nobody means offense towards you, they're just trying to clean up your pasta. If the story itself is edited to look nicer, it was an admin trying to make the site in general seem nicer. We will try to keep the story intact as much as possible.

Why did my pasta get deleted?

Because it was most likely a violation of the guidelines, which can very rarely happen. A message stating some things about personally contacting one of the admins will probably be left on your message wall afterwards.

You guys suck, and are just dinosaurs trying to bring back the past!

... Um. You're right on the last part, but.. why do we suck? We're trying to make a starting point for writers while also bringing back fun times from 2012. The Creepypasta Wiki doesn't allow that. I mean, we've lowered the standards. I feel we've done something good.

If there are more questions that I should've put on this FAQ, leave them on my message wall and I will surely add them if they're important enough.
